Royal Mail has a history like few other companies.
It began when Henry VIII established a “Master of the Posts” (later becoming the Postmaster General) in 1516.
Initially the Royal Postal service was in place to maintain communication between London and Edinburgh so that the Scottish Privy Council could be controlled.
Over the years it, of course, grew into the organisation that every British person relies on to keep communication ticking over.
Whilst everyonenot everyone necessarily uses letters still to keep up with one another, the delivery of parcels is becoming all the more prevalent as people turn away from the high street.
It is far less likely now for the average person to go down to their local shop if there’s something new they need around the house.
Instead, people tend to use websites to get things delivered meaning they don’t need to be travelling any more than they’d already have to.
So, whilst it may initially seem counter-intuitive, the internet is actually proving to be quite an instigator of activity for services such as the Royal Mail.
This shifting landscape that Royal Mail must navigate through is only manageable thanks to a vast team of employees who work together to consistently mould the company into a modern organisation that can cope with constant change.
It isn’t just a team of postwomen and postmen either.
A vast number of skills and talents are required to keep all of the cogs running smoothly.
Logistics team make sure that parcels get to the right place and financial minds ensure that there is enough efficiency to keep the service ticking over.
There are staff needed to give the company a face too, from human relations to keeping the post offices tidy.
