How to search for job offers at Network Rail?

Network Rail has set up a careers section of their website that is extremely easy to get around on.

On it, you will be able to find all of the vacancies that the organisation currently has open to which you can send applications to.

At the time of writing, 87 jobs come up on the company’s search feature.

To start with, this is very exciting because it means there is almost definitely something there that will suit your interests and aspirations.

Who doesn’t like to have a lot of options?

On the other hand, you may not want to look through so many jobs.

Especially if you have an idea of what kind of role it is you’re looking for already.

Network Rail has catered for this with the integration of filter functions that let you pick out more specifically the vacancies that could appeal to you.

At the time of writing, all of the listed jobs are full-time.

However, part-time jobs may also appear at times and you can use the first filter titled “employment” to find these.

The next filter is titled “job type” and lets you select regions as well as career areas of the organisation.

Underneath this is the “keyword” such.

If you have something very specific in mind that you’d like to sink your teeth into with the company then this is your opportunity to pick it out as quickly as possible.

Simply type in your desired role or area of work and if something is available related to the keyword then it will appear in the search.

However, this is a much stricter way of filtering and you risk missing other options that may also appeal to you with this function.

You can also use the postcode and radius functions to pick out vacancies that are within certain areas which is useful if you have no intention of moving house or a desire to move somewhere specific.

Perhaps most importantly of all, is the salary filter.

Most careers websites and even job descriptions tend to stick with an ambiguous approach to salaries.

Chances are, your pay is a big reason for working, and Network Rail has shown a lot of respect for potential employees here by being upfront about how you are compensated for your time.

Once you’ve whittled down the options and you see something that you like click on its title.

There will be an orange “apply now” button at the top of the page.

This will take you to the account creation screen which only requires some simple information to complete

You can then upload your CV and click “Continue”.

You will then need to fill out some standard information about yourself and your suitability for employment.

Following this will come some questions that are dependent on the vacancy. Make sure you take your time with these as network Rail’s employment team will be looking closely.

Once these are finished, you can send off your application.

Now, all that you have to do is wait.

How do I know if I have been selected?

If you’re one of the fortunate people that Network Rail deems suitable for one of their numerous vacancies then they will send an email your way that will contain the following steps.

It’s crucial that when you send your application off that you used an email address from which you’ll see their message quickly so that you can respond quickly and make a solid impression.

Don’t worry yourself too much if you don’t hear back from the initial application that you sent off though!
